Mission:
Episode 2 - Whispers in the Clouds
Location: USS Unification Bridge
Timeline: Day 2 - 1600
Glancing over the sensor data coming in, Aztala taps a few on the console she was working at on the bridge before tapping her commbadge. "Germond to Lambert. Captain, we're almost at the location of that derelict ship. It does indeed appear to be the Cassiopeia. I'll have an away team assembled in case they need help."
"I'm on my way to the bridge." He immediately picked up his PADD containing the message from
Lieutenant Westbridge and headed for the door to the bridge. It had some information about a potential new faction, which had a particular hatred of the Federation. Hopefully the Cassiopeia and the Galavant were not MIA because of this group. He arrived on the bridge and sat at the centre chair, immediately using his hand to call Aztala in closer. "I'm transferring some information to your console. Give it a quick read."
"Will do." Aztala take a seat at her usual console, pressing a few controls to go over the data there. A few classified tactical reports and readouts... A new faction that hates the Federation and some MIA agents... Nothing she could really do anything with at the moment, but it might come in handy later.
"Lieutenant Roebuck, status on weapons systems?" He turned to his left to get a better view of Roebuck, who was tapping away at his console.
His fingers danced over the console, "Shields up, weapons on hot standby Captain." Roebuck continued to run sensor sweeps of the area, making sure no other vessels showed up unannounced.
"Very good." he paused for a moment resting his chin on his left hand, while reading a PADD in his other. Given the set backs for the first time the Unification left Gamma Command, he was pleased to see everyone coming together like a well oiled machine.
"Lieutenant Benson, can I get you to go to engineering. Have Lieutenant Kail take you over up here, but maintain communication." He looked to Benson who nodded in reply.
Benson got up from his console, turning it over to his assistant, Kail, who took the seat and immediately and set to work. Benson headed for main engineering. He wanted to be down there just in case anything went wrong.
Gabriel Grey nodded to Lieutenant Benson as the gold-shirted engineer left the Bridge. Gabriel had been on his way to have a quick chat with Lieutenant Commander Germond, the Unification's Orion XO, when he noticed the familiar flurry of activity from ship's command-and-control center. The retired veteran Starfleet officer didn't need a yellow alert claxon to recognize combat readiness when he saw it. As the 78 year-old Chief Diplomatic Officer stepped onto the Bridge, he immediately moved off to the side, taking care to stay out of the way while still being able to observe — and possibly even participate — if necessary.
Jacob turned to the door that had just opened, showing Gabriel Grey. While he was only a diplomatic officer now, he had no reason to be on the bridge. However Grey had been in and out of Starfleet for many years. So his knowledge and experience were without question. Jacob merely nodded, and directed Grey to an empty console to the right of the bridge.
Kiean leapt out of the turbolift and hurried towards the bridge. He'd left transporter room 2 the minute the call came for all senior officers to report to the bridge but it had still taken him a few minutes to navigate his way through the unification's maze of corridors and turbolifts. Quickening his pace and hoping he wasn't late he came to the bridge just as the door hissed shut. He stopped for a second to catch his breath before stepping onto the bridge.
Joycelyn finished programming the tricorder with the frequency and pattern of the backup transmitter for handler agents and set it aside. She quickly programmed her console to override the display of the one Gabriel was at and typed out a message, 'Gabriel, I believe there may be a handler on the Cassiopeia, I have programmed a tricorder to pick up the distress frequency of a communications implant. The reserve power is limited so the implant will only transmit a few meters, and may not even be active anymore. However if it is still active it may contain intel about whoever attacked the Cassiopeia.' She glanced at Gabriel to confirm that he read the message, and blanked the screen before placing the tricorder on the edge of her console.
Gabriel looked up from his console, taking a moment to register the words that had briefly and unexpectedly flashed across his screen. The idea that the trouble with the Cassiopeia was connected to the matter Lieutenant Westbridge had discussed with him earlier, gave the old man cause for concern. In a smooth and inconspicuous motion, Gabriel picked up the modified tricorder on the edge of Joycelyn's station, and with a quick knowing glance, stashed the device on his person. Now all that remained was to somehow find a way onto the away team headed for the distressed starship.
"Lieutenant Commander," Gabriel said, turning around to face Aztala. "I'd like to volunteer as part of your away team, Ma'am ... if it's not too much trouble, that is."
Looking up from her console at the unexpected request, Aztala thinks for a moment. "Your experience will be greatly appreciated. Thank you." Not knowing the situation on the Cassiopeia, she could definitely use his help just trying to figure things out.
Roebuck looked back, "No change in target Captain. Area is still clear aside from the Cassiopeia and ourselves."
Benson called the bridge the minute he was in Engineering. "=/\= Benson to Bridge. Engines are ready ta go, and we have warp capabilities. All ready. I'll maintain this status until you're ready Commander." Benson's fingers flew over the console in front of him. He ran several intensive scans of the area, making sure everything was secure. So far so good.
Lieutenant JG Darzen Kail was running the same scans on the Bridge. He looked over his shoulder at the view screen. None of what was going on over there looked good. He turned back to his own station and started scans over.
What the hell is going on? Jacob thought to himself.
