Meeting The XO

Episode 3 - Winds of Change
Location: XO's Office
Timeline: MD1, 0935
Matthew had just got to New Bajor from Deep Space Nine. It was his first time in the Gamma Quadrant, it didn't seem too different to him. Everything except for the trip through the wormhole, which was a strange experience to sit through. Matthew's runabout had just landed onboard the USS Unification and he was set to find his quarters then to meet the XO. He had memorized the specifications and deck listings for the Nebula Class as a hobby so everything seemed familiar to him, even though he had never stepped foot on a Nebula Class. He walked from the shuttle into a turbo lift then took the turbo lift to the deck where his quarters where on. He walked down the corridor to his quarters and stepped inside.
It was a nice place to live, it had a living room, bathroom, dining room, a desk, and a bedroom. Everything he could ask for. He placed his belongings down beside the front door, took out his transfer order PADD, then proceeded to the Executive Officer's Office. He walked back down the hall to the same turbo lift and took it a few decks then exited and walked towards the XO's office. He stood outside and rang the chime of the door.
Elena had just returned from her rather random encounter with the Chief Engineer when she heard the bell behind her again, with a slight sigh she sat down. "Enter" She said while turning on the LCARS laptop
Matthew entered the Executive Officer's ready room and walked up to the Colonel's desk. "Lieutenant Matthew Hanson, Chief Operations Officer, reporting for duty." he said standing to attention.
An officer who knew proper protocol, it was quite a relief to be sure. "At ease Lieutenant, please take a seat and welcome aboard." Elena responded, trying to recollect the information she had read on Hanson's personnel file.
"Thank you, Ma'am." Matthew said taking a seat in front of the Colonel's desk. "I have my transfer orders here for you." he said handing Colonel Wright the PADD.
Elena nodded before taking the PADD and looking over it, with the personnel file by now on the lcars laptop there could be a proper introduction. "You have had quite an impressive record, shifting through the Fleet at such a speed and within various departments. What would you say makes you the perfect fit to serve on the Unification?"
"No one is perfect, Ma'am. No matter how much I, or anyone else tries. However, I do think I can create an efficient and helpful operations department. I will ensure that things run smoothly under my watch." Matthew told the Colonel with confidence.
"Thank you Lieutenant, that is all I needed to hear. Do you have any questions?" Elena asked.
Matthew was a little surprised that the Colonel only had one question for him and it was such a simple one. "No ma'am." he said staying in his seat until he was dismissed.
"Very well then Lieutenant, I look forward to seeing you in action" Elena responded. "Dismissed"
Matthew stood up saluted once more then turned and exited the Colonel's ready room. It was a lot quicker and easier than he had expected. He shrugged then went back to his quarters to unpack.
