Meeting the Crew

Mission: Episode 1A - Welcome Aboard
Location: Conference Room
Timeline: Day 2 - 0620

Jacob sat at the head of the table, waiting for his department heads to arrive. He hadn't met any of them before and couldn't wait to see what his new crew were like.

It didn't take long for the first Department Head to arrive. The doors opened and closed with a swish as Jordyn Elbrun, the new Betazoid Chief of Science entered and took a seat to the Captain's left. His face was unemotional, except for his bright gray eyes which sparkled against the lighting in the room.

Its didn"t take long for the second Department head to arrive. The doors of the Conference Room opened and closed with a swish as Ensign Mnheia Annhwi, the Romulan Chief Operations Officer entered she also took her seat to the Captain right. Ensign Annhwi was having her Breakfast in the mess hall.

Talva trudged through the door and silently moved to take up his usual seat. To his annoyance the new Betazoid Science Office had already taken that particular seat. Making a mental note Talva took a seat further along the table and glared down at his PADD, ignoring the other officers present.

He waited while the last person sat down. He cleared his throat, which got everyone's attention. "I am Commander Jacob Lambert. I have been requested to command this vessel because of an 'incident' with the previous CO. I don't wish to know details, but I would like to know weather this will effect your performance in any way. I am aware that some of you were at previous postings, and this does not apply to you, I will however listen to you each individually and require reports from each of you regarding your departments."

"Please can you give me a report on the Science department." He asked the surly Betazoid sitting to his left.

Jordyn leaned forward, "I'm still collecting the status of the Science Department. All four science labs are still offline. I've spoken with Engineering and they're still working on getting them functional, though it seems to be low on their priority list." Jordyn turned to the Chief Engineer, but didn't say anything. He hadn't spoken to Ensign Ren since their less than pleasant conversation in the mess hall the evening before, but he would soon need to get with him regarding his department's status.

Talva shot Elbrun a look.

"And the engineering department Ensign Ren?" The bald Bajoran turned at the mention of his name.

"All primary systems are online with assistance from the Agamemnon, however we are still very much operating with a skeleton engineering crew. Very few of our redundant systems are functioning correctly however, and I would suggest that all personnel steer clear of the forward sections of deck 3 where possible until operational testing of our new phaser couplings is complete. As for the science labs Mr. Elbrun will have to wait until key systems are operating to an acceptable standard; this is a volatile region of space and with all due respect I'd rather we were able to defend ourselves if necessary. You'll be pleased to know, however that all external sensors have been fully repaired." Talva finished his report and put his PADD on the table.

"I never said I wasn't willing to wait," Jordyn replied, lacing his fingers together on the table-top as he moved his sparkling gray eyes from the Bajoran to the Captain seated next to him, "I merely stated a fact. And I would suggest at least having the Astrometrics Lab online before we depart. The information it can provide us could prove to be invaluable."

Talva sighed heavily, "I'm sure it could be. As I already mentioned the external sensors are now fully functional; all that remains would be the calibration of the Astrometric systems and clearing whatever debris remains from the lab; perhaps Ensign Annhwi could offer some assistance with this?" he stated levelly; his people didn't have the time to be dusting down consoles and chairs for the convenience of other departments but until he had the measure of their new CO maintaining a relatively civil tone seemed to be a good idea.

Jacob looked around the table sternly. "Thats enough. This isnt productive. I will have some crew assigned to clean up one of the labs." He was careful to emphasis the number 1. "No one said you were not willing to wait, but the engineering department is already stretched to the limit, just getting the ship back to working order. Our replacement crew will be arriving over the next few days anyway, so I assume that there will be more than enough people to help get this ship back on track. Now, moving on. Ensign Annhwi, how is the Operations department going? How are they coping with the transition?" He asked as he turned to the Romulan Ensign.

Ensign Mnheia Annhwi replied to the Captain ." All Operations primary systems are now online with assistance from the Agamemnon Operations Officers, however we are still very much operating with a skeleton Operations crew too are few of our redundant systems are still functioning correctly because I running a Level 2 Operations shipwide diagnostic on all of the ship systems and subsystems now we have to work on getting all of the ship second systems and subsystems online again with assistance from the Agamemnon Operations Officers. As for the science labs, Lt. Elbrun, i will have few of my Operations Officers go down to the science labs to help you and yours Science Officers get the Science department online again, Lt.Elbrun, all key Operations systems and subsystems are now operating to an acceptable standard. Captain you'll be pleased to know, that all external and internal sensors have been fully repaired." Mnheia finished her Operations report and put her PADD on the table.

"The Operations department is running at 80% efficiency at the present moment of time, her Operations Officers are copying very well with this transition too. Captain," Mnheia repiled.

Ensign Annhwi replied to the Captain ." I need more Operations Officers so she can run her department at 100% efficiency and we are going to run a shipwide Operations diagnostic on all of the ship systems and subsystems also maintaining and repairing: Holodeck systems, replicators, sensors and the transporters too. Captain, Mnheia repiled.

"Excellent. As I pointed out Ensign, alot of replacement crew will be arriving soon, so I expect your efficiency to increase to 100% before we leave. Any other questions?" He waited for any replies. Everyone shook their heads. "Very Well, Dismissed."
