TBD Marines

Mission: Episode 4 - Parallels
Location: Marines Complex, USS Unification
Timeline: Day 2 - 0900

As she was walking through the complex she could see the Marines in full training. Rather than calling for the Major to her Office Elena had considered it best to visit her. After all, it also gave her a chance to see the Marines in action once again.

"Colonel" A Staff Sergeant said, immediately saluting. Elena turned to the individual and responded in the proper way. "At ease Staff Sergeant, please tell the Major I would like to speak to her" She said. The Marine immediately confirmed and left, most likely to inform Larissa.

Larissa was waiting in her office when a Staff Sergeant entered "Major Colonel Wright would like to meet with you now" Larissa nodded and grabbed for her jacket that she had removed when she entered her office. "Thank you Staff Sergeant, I will go there now. Can you please send the personnel records to my terminal as I will need to review the files as well as provide me a list of all ordinance as well as weapons that we have. Also all other equipment as well"

Larissa put her jacket back on and left her office. This meeting would show what the XO of this ship was like and just what she could expect in support for her duties. "Lt Colonel Wright this is Major Chusavitna can you please let me know where to meet you?"

Elena responded swiftly "The gym Major, I am observing the Marine training right now" She said.

Larissa smiled and she wasn't really prepared for combat as she was in her more dressy uniform as she always was when she was travelling to a new post. It was best to start out with making a good impression "On my way there now Colonel" She quickly tapped her badge "Computer show me directions to the gym" She saw the lights flash showing the way to the gym and she quickly walked there.

As Larissa approached the gym she entered with a quick march pace "Major Chusavitna reporting as ordered Sir" She quickly saluted the Colonel

Elena responded to the salute in kind. "At ease Major, first of all let me welcome you aboard"

Larissa let herself go into a more state of ease. Not quite the same as a non-marine but she stopped the rigid pose. "Thank you Ma'am. I appreciate the welcome"

Elena nodded "Have you had much time with the Marines here yet?"

Larissa shook her head "Not really Sir. I haven't been aboard long enough to meet with the Marines and introduce myself yet. I can see we have a very good bunch of Marines here which is of great relief to me. Some of the posts I have had in the past I have found a not so good bunch who needed more hand holding"

Elena nodded "Yes, the Marines assigned to this ship are quite a solid group indeed. Do you have any specific plans for the department?"

Larissa nodded "Some. I want to be able to turn them into an Early response squad which means a lot of training also I want to get a specialist group for the Marines as well which will allow more flexibility and allow us to cover when weird situations come on."

"Ah yes, I do believe your predecessor had similar plans and considering the nature of the Unification it seems like a sensible focus. Do you have any specifics on how you want to facilitate this?" Elena asked.

Larissa thought about this "First I am going to interview all of the Marines that are under my command and find out what there specialties lie. I may have to move people around once that is determined. I plan to have 4 mini squads. First squad is the command squad, second squad will be General Infantry, Third squad will have my scouts and other experts in ground combat, and the final squad will be my true specialists. Those who have the ability to be Demolitions, Snipers and Intel assets that we have under the Marines. Once that is done I will need to get assignments set up for those who will be Squadron Leaders. I will need some strong Marines for those ones. I may need to get approval to bring in the Marines for the Leader roles that I need Colonel.
