Getting Ready

Posted on Sat Aug 17th, 2013 @ 5:33pm by Lieutenant Shrevan th'Iroth & Lieutenant Walter Roebuck

Mission: Episode 2 - Whispers in the Clouds
Location: Armoury, Bridge
Timeline: Day 2 - 1100

Ensign th'Iroth still wasn't used to being based on a ship. He was much more comfortable on orbital starbases. This isn't to say that he didn't want to be here, he just preferred to be in a stationary orbit rather than travelling through space at warp. He was finally getting used to his bunk mate too. Ensign David Seria, a human from New France. He was rather irritating at first, but the last few weeks he had mellowed. David, an officer from the security department, snored. Being an Andorian with sensitive hearing this posed a problem to Shrevan. Fortunately after a midnight trip to the EMH which began with Shrevan physically dragging David from his bed to Sickbay, the problem was solved with a simple minor surgical procedure which was over before the EMH had even put his tricorder down. So since he had begun to have full nights sleeps, he had suddenly become less constantly irritated with daily life. This affected him positively, as he was settling in more he became more accustomed to life moving instead of being in orbit.

He had just finished his weekly tactical report when he was going through the latest tactical logs. They were going into a possible hostile situation. He would likely be on duty at some point during this rescue, and wanted to know what exactly was going on. "Ensign th'Iroth to Lieutenant Roebuck."

Roebuck was still on the Bridge, keeping a close eye on the sensors as the Captain had ordered. He’d been up nearly twenty-six hours already, and as he stood to get another cup of raktijno, he heard the comm beep.

"Roebuck here." He replied as he tapped in the command on the food slot’s panel.

"What is your location Lieutenant. Are you free to discuss the upcoming mission?" He waited for the response, his antennae twitching.

Roebuck took a sip of the hot Klingon coffee before he answered, he needed the punch. "I'm on the Bridge Ensign," He paused a moment, then added, "Come on up and I'll fill you in."

"Thank you Lieutenant. I shall be there within a few minutes. th'Iroth out." He closed the comm channel and left the armoury, heading for the nearest turbolift. The ride would only take a few seconds, given how small this ship was. The Diligent class was based on the Defiant and Nova classes. So it was tiny, but held its own.

He stepped from the the turbolift and walked towards the tactical station, which Lieutenant Roebuck was manning. "Sir, I would like to know what we are heading for, so I can prepare myself, and my team for potential hazards."

Roebuck looked back at the Ensign, then around the Bridge. Since the Captain hadn’t filled everyone in yet, he didn’t want to just blurt out anything. He looked over at an Ensign manning the Science station, “Keep an eye on the forward sensors.”

Roebuck stood and motioned to th’Iroth to follow him to the turbolift. Once the doors closed, Roebuck halted the lift so it wouldn't move, creating a makeshift meeting room.

"We’re looking for the USS Galavant has gone missing on a routine supply mission in the Finnean Corridor. We’re not sure if the ship is off course and experiencing a malfunction, or worse. The USS Cassiopeia has been dispatched to assist us, and we’re en route to rendezvous with her, but she isn't responding either."

"So we can expect the literal unknown yes? I know we always expect the unknown out here anyway, but we have no idea whats happened to them at all? Any sensor buoys or emergency transponder buoys?"

"No idea at all." He shook his head, "Could be garbled communications, could be anything really at this point. Intel doesn't suggest Dominion involvement though. Right now, we need to get to the rendezvous point, then move out from there." Roebuck replied.

"Aye sir. Is there anything else I can do?" The Andorian's antennae twitching with a sort of eagerness.

"The forward sensors seem to be slightly out of alignment, every third sweep I’m seeing double of everything. With the Engineering teams spread thin, I want you to have a look and correct the problem, then report to the Bridge." Roebuck replied.

"Aye sir, I will go to Lieutenant Benson and help them out." He nodded to Lieutenant Roebuck then turned, heading for the turbolift to take him to engineering.
