Mission: Episode 1A - Welcome Aboard
Location: Mess Hall - USS Unification
Timeline: Day 1 - 1941

Jordyn bent his neck to the left, taking a deep breath as he stretched his muscles. The Kumasagari, the transport that brought him here, arrived less than an hour ago and he'd already been to his quarters to drop off what he had. The rest of his belongings were probably just now being transported aboard. But he had to eat something. Nathaniel would be furious if he knew he'd gone this long without eating.

He rounded the corner, headed in the direction that the computer had told him earlier. The Diligent class was much smaller than the Sovereign he was used too, but he could navigate his way around the Sovereign like the back of his hand. But it wouldn't take too long before he could do that here as well. He needed to stop by Sickbay. It'd almost been a week since his last checkup, and it was nearing time for his next treatment. He rounded yet another corner and the smell of beef was unmistakable, and Jordyn's stomach growled in response.

He smiled as he stepped through the doors. The room was small, much like the ship itself, but had everything they needed, including a gorgeous view of the planet they were orbiting. He walked to the replicator, ordered himself a small steak and sautéed kerlukat, a Betazoid vegetable, and walked towards an empty table. As he approached, he noticed two officers, sitting with their backs to each other. He recognized him from their service record photos. One was Ensign Talva, the Chief Engineer and the other was the Romulan Ensign from Ops. He could see her name in his head, but wouldn't attempt it aloud. Mennea Anwee? he asked himself, questioning his pronunciation.

As he set his tray on the table and took his seat, he decided to speak to them both. "Good evening, Ensigns."

Talva turned to face the newcomer; 'Perfect' he thought to himself, 'Now we have a damned Betazoid aboard.' "Lieutenant." he acknowledged simply before returning his gaze to his drink.

Jordyn raised his eyebrows. It didn't take empathic abilities to sense the man didn't want to talk.

Ensign Mnheia Annhwi also turned to face the newcomer as well." Good evening, Lieutenant Elbrun," Mnheia said acknowledged him simply before she went back to eat her 'Steamed Romulan Jumbo Mollusks and a class of Romulan Ale.

"How're you this evening?" he asked, glad the Romulan woman was more talkative than the Engineering Chief.

"I'm good thanks, Lieutenant," Mnheia repiled.

Jordyn nodded to her. "How is Operations?"

Ensign Annhwi nodded to him as well. "Everything is going well in Operations at the moment, Lieutenant Elbrun. How is every thing going in Science?" Mnheia asked with a smile.

"I'm not actually sure. I haven't check on the department yet. I just arrived on board and came here." Jordyn turned to the Chief Engineer who was being extremely quiet. And that was annoying the crap out of him. "How is Engineering, Ensign?"

"The less said the better, lieutenant." Talva retorted. "I can only hope that Starfleet furnished your department with personnel who can tell one end of a Tricorder from the other!"

"Do you need to put in a request for new personal?" Jordyn asked. In reality, he didn't care. The last thing he wanted to do was to socialize with Ensigns, much less help them. But Nathaniel always told him that he was too closed off. So he was trying. "I could talk to the XO for you."

It didn't take an empath to recognise the thinly veiled disdain in the Science officer's tone; whether his newly reduced rank reflected it or not Talva was still a member of the senior staff on this ship, his ship. "Thank you lieutenant, that won't be necessary. If I need to speak to the XO then I shall do so myself; in any case I doubt Starfleet will want to throw yet more personnel at this scow of a ship."

The Ensign's tone concerned Jordyn. Not to mention the clear derogatory comment towards the ship itself. "Just let me know if you change your mind." It was obvious this conversation was going nowhere, and the last thing Jordyn wanted to do was continue talking to someone who clearly didn't like him. "I should be going," he said as he stood and walked away, leaving his tray behind.
