Better late than never

Mission: Episode 1B - Welcome Aboard Reboot
Location: Space and shuttle bay
Timeline: Day 1 - 1300

One of the nicer things about being a flight officer, was that you normally have a dearth of pilots around waiting on long hours. With the problem his last transport had , George had to beg, borrow, and nearly steal a shuttle to make the last leg of his journey.

Tapping the comm, he said. "Allegheny calling the Unification. Respond please."

"Allegheny, this is the Unification. Please state your purpose." The communication officer replied.

"Sorry Sir, my last ride had engine trouble and the ship had already gone out of transporter range by the time I arrived. It couldn't be helped."

"No problem at all Ensign. Prepare to beam aboard." The comm officer sent the orders down to the transporter room, meaning her part was done. The transporter room had received the orders and were now communicating with the Allegheny. Within a few seconds, the Ensign will be on the transporter pad, and the Commander would have been informed.

A message popped up on Jacobs monitor telling him an Ensign Ward was about to be beamed aboard. He opened up a channel to the transporter room. "Lambert to transporter room 3, please prepare for the arrival of Ensign Ward, and have him brought to my ready room please. Lambert out."

Ward brought the shuttle into position and pass had his co-pilot take the controls. Grabbing his two duffles, he stepped to the back near the transporter on the shuttle and tapped the panel. "Ready when you are."

George felt the familiar sensation as the signal passed between the shuttle and the ship. Once he was on the pad, he asked, "Permission to come aboard?"

"Permission granted. If you would accompany me to the bridge, the Captain would like to see you in his ready room." The crewman gestured to the door and they left the transporter room and headed for a turbolift.

As the pair made it's way to the Captain's ready room. George was more than nervous. It would be be his first posting. When they reached the room, the young Ensign made it a point to try and straighten his uniform and make a good first impression. Tapping the comm panel, he waited for a response.

"Enter." Jacob called out as the door chime went off.

"Walking into the room, George guess the requisite distance from the desk and stopped, coming to a rigid attention. "Ensign George Ward reporting for duty."

Jacob stood and greeted the new Ensign. "Welcome aboard Ensign, at ease." He gestured to the chair opposite his desk. "Good trip here Ensign Ward?"

"Not my best Sir. A runaway attitude thruster was a bit of a bear to wrestle. I'd like to stash my stuff and check out the helm." George replied.

"Well you made it here in one piece, that's good. And Permission granted." He stood to and gestured to the door for the new helm officer to make himself at home. "If you need anything feel free to contact either myself or the XO. Dismissed"
