Episode 1A - Welcome Aboard
Location: Observation Lounge - USS Kumasagari
Timeline: Day 1 - 0148
The room was dark, lit only by the stars that zipped past the massive bay windows that lined the outer wall. A man stood in silence, his hands clasped behind his back as he stared into the void before him. He took a deep breath, his chest rising and falling beneath his duty uniform. He could hear voices. The thoughts of the crew around him. Instinctively, he kept a barrier around his mind to block out the noise, but tonight, he didn't want to be alone.
The past 2 weeks had been a whirlwind. The Excelsior had returned to dock and the senior staff had been met at the airlock with new orders, all taking them in different directions. He was barely able to have dinner with them all before he had to report to the USS Hyperion, the first of 11 starships that he had to be on to get to where he was going.
The Kumasagari dropped out of warp and moments later, a massive blue portal appeared out of nowhere, it's gaping maw readily accepting the Sovereign class vessel as it slipped into the blue stream. Jordyn closed his eyes and he could almost feel the wormhole around him. On the other side lay a new arena. A frontier he'd yet to experience.
His new assignment, the Unification, was in orbit of a planet called New Bajor. He'd tried to find out what he could about the ship's class and purpose. From what he could tell, science was not one of it's major priorities. It's wasn't as bad as a Prometheus, but it certainly didn't have the capabilities of the Sovereign he came from. And it was barely bigger than a Defiant. This was certainly going to be a change.
Jordyn sighed. He was at least hoping to get some time back on Earth to see the kids. It was strange how much he missed them, even though he still barely knew them. But they seemed to connect him to another life. A life his sister led that he wasn't apart of. It was comforting to have that link.
The wormhole led back into open space, and soon the ship was at warp again. By the current charts, the ship should arrive at New Bajor in the late evening. Plenty of time to get some sleep and gather his things before he would transfer over. A blink, and the voices were silenced. He was again alone in his own mind. Like coming home from a big party. Glad you were around people, but relieved to be in your comfort zone again. The only comfort zone he had left.
