Lieutenant Archibald Harrington ordered himself an espresso drink from the coffee bar and an apple tart. He looked around spotting a familiar face at the briefing from this morning. He decided it would probably be the best to introduce himself to the Major. He approached the table, "Mind if I join you?"

Elizabeth looked up at the Lieutenant and quickly recalled seeing him at the meeting earlier today. "Please," she said motioning toward the seat opposite her. She figured this was as good a time as any to start getting to know the officers she would be working with for this part of her career. "How are you?" she asked in a very pleasant tone as she sipped on her own coffee and shuffled her PADDs around to clear the space in front of her.

Harrington settled his cup and plate onto the table's surface. He moved his leg over the chair and sat down across from her. He smiled lightly, "I am doing all right. How about yourself?" He took a sip of his espresso and then a bite from his tart.

"Doing well," she said with a sigh, "Just trying to settle in and get things prepared for departure." She was relatively calm compared to what she should be. She arrived on the ship and had less than twenty-four hours to prepare for departure and learn her entire staff.

"I just came aboard the Unification recently myself as well. Where were you posted before?" He took another sip from his espresso.

"I was temporarily assigned to the station, but that lasted all of ten minutes from my report in. Prior to that I was stationed as a staff liaison for a flag officer," She said in a modest voice. In fact she served at the Commandant's office and knew she had to leave to get the experience if she ever wanted the job herself.

"Cool, cool... I was assigned aboard the Telestro before I made way to the Uni," he took another sip of his espresso. He stealthily looked over her to check her out. The Major was a pretty good looking woman. His eyes jumped to his tart hopefully before she noticed him. He picked it up and took another bite.

"By the way, I am Elizabeth Beasley." She said slightly extending her hand over the table. She could feel that his eyes moved over her, but she was used to it. She was a female Marine and most men thought she was to delicate to handle being in the Corps.

"My apologies. Where were my manners?" He set both his cup of espresso and tart down into their respected places on the table. He wiped his hands off with a serviette before taking her hand into his. "I'm Archibald Harrington, please call me Archie." He smiled at her warmly.

"Pleasure to meet you Archie," She said with a warm friendly smile and returned her hand to holding her coffee cup. "So tell me a little about yourself."

Archie returned her smile. He loved his named being rolled over in her Texan drawl, "I'm English. I enjoy sporting, into football, soccer, some golf, and tennis. Also table tennis. I don't like being called by my real name... Archibald... hate it. I'm the fifth generation Archibald Harrington. My family can be quite daft when it comes to their naming conventions. Somehow my dear sister got out of being called Maggie Sue." He grinned with a bit of a laugh, "yourself?"

"An Englishman that doesn't call soccer, football?" She said with an almost whimsical play on the words. She really let her southern accent come out more, "I am a sweet, southern belle that likes to blow things up. I was raised in Southern Texas. You learned to take of yourself out there. Of course the war broke out midway through my teens and things got hectic. The upside is I knew what I wanted to do with my life. I am a fifth generation Marine."

"I called it soccer for your benefit, love." He stuck his tongue out at her playfully. He took another sip of his espresso. He swooned over her Texan drawl enough to almost slide underneath the table but he managed to regain his posture quickly. "I'm fifth or sixth generation Starfleet."

"Lieutenant, you may call me Major, Major Beasley, or in an informal setting Elizabeth. However, you will never call me love again," She said in a very firm manner. She didn't care if it was something commonly practiced elsewhere. She worked for her rank and she worked hard to make a name for herself.

"If you will excuse me Lieutenant, I need to get back to Marine country and get with the First Sergeant about drills," She quickly added as she stood up and started gathering her things.

Lieutenant Archibald Harrington watched the Marine Officer stand up from her seat. He didn't mean to offend her but he couldn't help but smile. He was glad she was of strong character and stood up for herself.

With that Liz walked on off. She was on a mission now.
