New Beginnings

Mission: Episode 4 - Parallels
Location: USS Unification
Timeline: Day 1 - 0900

32 days. It had been 32 days since the remaining crew of the Unification had returned to DS11, battered, bruised and bloodied. But they were mended, mostly. And now here he was, sitting in the ready room of the re-commissioned USS Unification.

This Nebula class ship had also been beaten, some of its crew murdered. The ones that remained were doing the best they could do, and Gamma Command had assigned extra counselors from throughout the fleet to anyone who was affected by it. But they were ready to get back out there.

He sat at his desk, going through the new duty rosters. The ship was fully crewed, and this obviously meant alot more work for the Captain. He heard the chirp of the comm system.

"Bridge to Captain Lambert, incoming transmission from the Compound. Its Admiral Adislo."

"Put it through here please, Lambert out." he replied as he tapped a button on the control pad of his desk. The monitor rose and flashed on, showing the Starfleet symbol before being replaced with the Admirals face.

"Ahh, greetings Captain. I trust your crew are all acclimatised to their new surroundings?"

"Yes, thank you Admiral, well at least as much as they can considering how we all ended up here."

"Yes, quite unfortunate circumstances indeed. Do you think they are ready to head back out there?

"I do, I think that they need get back out there. Sitting around orbiting New Bajor isnt exactly what they were trained for, but they have enjoyed the extended shore leave. I got a few days myself," he nodded to the Admiral, "Thanks for that by the way."

"No worries at all, you needed the break. The whole senior staff did. The whole lot of you went through something you shouldn't have had to. Which brings me to why I'm contacting you. With the Aquarius, Luna, Scorpio, Arizona and the Katana coming in to reinforce the area, with the loss of the old Unification and the Cassiopeia, we are going to give you a shakedown mission. Get back to doing some exploration. Interested?" The Bolian replied.

"Very. Haven't been exploring for quite a while. Where are we going to be going?"

"Well its out towards Jurgon through the Finnean Convergence Zone. Now I know you just had some issues there, but its heavily reinforced now, with another 5 ships out at DS15. Theres a planet out there we thought was dead, but we have detected intermittent power signatures from it. Now at this distance, it could just be interference with the long range sensors buoys, but it should at least make it a somewhat quite mission."

"Very well Sir, when do we get underway?" Jacob asked.

"You can leave at 1300 hours. That should give you enough time to recall staff from the planet and inform your crew of its new mission. Any other questions Captain?"

"No. Thank you Admiral." He smiled.

"Very well. Im sending you the mission profile and what we have on the planet so far. Good luck, Adislo out." The Admirals face replaced with the Starfleet seal.

"Lambert to Bridge, recall all crew from shore leave." The officer off the bridge acknowledged and closed the channel. Jacob tapped his comm badge once more.

"Lambert to all senior officers, please report to the briefing room. We have our new orders. Out"
