Mission:
Episode 3 - Winds of Change
Location: New USS Unification
Timeline: Day 1, 1145 hours
ON:
Roebuck hadn’t taken much time off since the loss of the Unification and their arrival the New Bajor Station. He’d spent most of his time going over the new ship’s Tactical Systems, making sure there wouldn’t be a repeat of the systems issues that plagued the Diligent class Unification.
With everything to hit liking, Roebuck was now going through and inventorying all of the Weapons Lockers as well as the ship’s Main Armory. Roebuck wanted the new ship to be as prepared and battle ready as possible, even if it was sent on a purely exploration mission. ‘Just never know what might happen’ he thought to himself.
Of course, Roebuck had been all but ordered to take a rest, but he was just too focused on his work and memories of the events that lead to the loss of the Unification. He some ways, he felt responsible. As the Chief of Security, it was his job to ensure the ship and crew’s safety.
As he arrived at the Weapons Locker on Deck Two, Roebuck checked his PADD. There should be twenty Type-I Phasers, twenty Type-II, and then Phaser Rifles along with twenty Tricorders…however when he opened the locker there was only a few hand Phasers, no Rifles or Tricorders. Roebuck was visibly angry, he’d told the ‘Egg Heads’ working on the ship to be sure to stock all of the Weapons Lockers and Armory.
Roebuck secured the locked and headed for the Armory. Upon arrival, he found the room empty except for two creates in the middle of the room. Even the racks for the Rifles were missing!
Roebuck opened the first create and found it to contain ten old Type-3B Phaser Rifles. Type model had been first issued in 2363 but was phased out of primary service shorted after the Dominion War. Even during the war, this type was no longer state of the art…superseded by the Type-3C Compression Rifle and the Type-3D Pulse Rifle. These would be okay for reserves or on Shuttles and Runabouts in case of an emergency, but not for front line service and NOT for his Security Personnel aboard the ship.
He typed up a quick message and sent it off to the Station’s Quartermaster, then resealed the create and locked the Armory down. While waiting for a reply, he figured he’d go find something to eat…he knew the reply would take a while…
