Episode 3 - Winds of Change
Location: New Bajor
Anastasia walked along the pier that extended out into the ocean at the edge of the capital, the sun had set several hours ago and the air was quickly cooling. The sea breeze was a refreshing change from the recycled air aboard the starships she had spent the last few weeks on. She finally caught site of her target, a mid sized bar at the end of the pier out over the water and almost out of sight from the shore.
She approached the bar, Bajoran music that resembled Brazilian at least to Anna filled the area, open flame torches light the open air tables and a large bar dominated the centre. She could see why the place was a leading tourist attraction. She approached the bar and let her eyes take everything in.
Archie had found himself at the beach lounge. He caught a woman from the corner of his eye approach the bar, "How's your tonight going?"
"It's nice to have a night again," She said looking up at the bright moon. "I miss the day night cycle of planets." She said turning her attention to the man, she sized him up for a moment. "How is yours?"
"So far so good," he smiled at her. "I'll have whatever you have on tap and pour her another."
"Gin and tonic." She said to the bartender. "So, been on New Bajor long?"
"I'm just checking things out for the day," Archie smiled. "What about you?"
"Just arrived, shipping out as soon as my ship arrives." She replied, nodding to the bartender she took a sip of the drink. "It's a very quant planet."
"Fun?"
"So far, I mean, no ones shot at me yet, but the night is still young." She said with a wink.
"I am relieved that you are still in one piece," he grinned.
"So I am," She said, taking her drink she turned away from the bar, moving towards one of the railings over looking the water, motioning for the man to follow her.
Archie finished his drink and ordered another before following her to the railing.
"So what's your story mister?" She asked, the music was a little quieter the sound of the ocean contrasting the drum beats of the music, the light a little dimmer and two standing a little closer.
"I'm a seventh generation Starfleet Officer. I'm a pilot by trade. What about yourself?"
"Marine through and through," She said, "So a pilot eh, doesn't it get boring sitting there and watching autopilot do your job?"
Archie laughed, "There's more to it then that, Jarhead."
"If you say so flyboy." She remarked finishing her drink. "Buy me another?"
He nodded his head and finished his own drink. He left and returned with two more, "I hate to keep calling you Princess Jarhead... so do you have a name?" He handed her her drink.
"Anna." She said accepting the drink. "You?"
"Archibald but please call me Archie." He smiled taking a sip of his drink.
"Charmed." She replied smiling.
"Besides drinking, what other hobbies do you enjoy?"
"Shooting things, people at times." She said with a laugh, "I enjoy just about any sport you can think of, chess, sky diving, among other things, what about you?"
"As an Englishman, I love my club sports: badminton, tennis, squash and golf. I also love football, sailing, boxing and riflery."
"A fly boy who can shoot, that would be a first." She remarked, she took another sip from her drink, "Sorry that was harsh, maybe a second, possibly even a third. Most pilots I know, at least fleet pilots couldn't shoot there way out of a we paper bag with a Klingon disruptor cannon."
"Oh, please."
She winked at the man and leaned against the railing. "See, can't even comeback with anything."
He leaned in but not too far into encroach on her personal space, "I'm not like most pilots so I took your insult as a compliment, Princess of the Jarheads."
Anna laughed, it was rare that a man could hold her interest for more than a few minutes. "I'm going for a swim," She said finishing her drink. "Care to join me?" She added before flipping over the railing of the pier and into the ocean.
He gulped down what was left of his drink before resting it besides her. He jumped over the railing after her into the water.
A few people rushed to the railing, it probably looked very strange to them, to see the two go over. Anna surfaced a moment later, the water was a few a degrees colder than she'd expected but it was refreshing. "Last one to the shore buys the next round."
"Can we relax for just a moment?" He complained.
"Fine." She said, leaning back and letting her legs float up. "You Fleet boys, always wanting to relax."
He couldn't stop from checking out her legs, "I guess Princess Jarheads do shave their legs!"
She rolled her eyes and dove backwards under the water, coming up almost silently right in front of him, her face mere centimetres from his. "I may be a marine, but I'm still a woman." She replied coyly.
He simply replied with a grin.
"Done relaxing?" She asked and then began racing to the shore.
Harrington swam quickly after her.
She lay down on the shore, the sand cool compared to the relatively warm water. "I hope you can fly faster than you can swim, or we will be in trouble."
"You had a head start."
"Well it's not fun if you play fair." She said pulling her legs up to her chest. "So?"
He walked out of the water and sat beside her, "So, what?"
"I'm bored, entertain me." She said.
Harrington sighed, "Gimme a moment."
She rolled onto her side before getting to her feet, "I'd don't like to be kept waiting."
"Oh? How do you want to be entertained?"
"I'm sure you can figure it out." She said with a wink.
