The Beginning of the End, Part 3

Posted on Mon Apr 20th, 2015 @ 2:31am by Captain Tarmin Mavroidis

Mission: Episode 4 - Parallels
Location: New Bajor, The 'Compound', Captain Mavroidis' Office
Timeline: Day 1 - 0755

"Good Morning Captains". Vadosia was always so cheerful in the mornings, Tarmin thought to himself. He was sitting at his desk and as channel opened for his morning briefing with the Admiral and Captain Terlexa. He sipped some of his coffee. "I trust you both slept well?"

Tarmin nodded to the Vadosia, as Julianna did. "Yes, Admiral, a pleasant night here on New Bajor.

Juliana spoke up. "I heard it was quite pleasant. I was here on the station all night. Did manage to get some sleep though. We have a few people down with some form of virus, so no transfers up today Tarmin, but I do have some people to beam down. They were cleared by medical this morning."

A message scrolled across the bottom of the screen from Commander Channing, saying the officer files were being downloaded."Receiving the personal files now, Juliana."

"How bad is the virus Juliana? Where did it come from?"

"We think a freighter worker brought it in on one of the last supply runs. We haven't been able to isolate when, but its non-life threatening and with a few hyposprays a day, it goes away."

"Thanks Juliana, please keep me informed." Vadosia replied.

With the files all downloaded, the compute automatically assigned them to their positions. "Juliana, you may begin beaming down todays transfers. You are sure they haven't contracted the virus?" The last thing he needed was to bring a virus into the compound.

"They have been cleared by Doctor Menendez." There was suddenly interference on the screen. Julianna spoke first. "Anyone else see that?"

Tarmin nodded as Vadosia did. "Tevak, we are getting some interference, can you see what the cause is? Tevak is working on it, where were…" The channel cut. And the sound of phaser fire in the distance caused him to reach for his weapon under his desk.

Tarmin called out to Commander Channing. "Zach, get in here!" The Compound XO came running in, phaser drawn. "Report. Commander."

"The officers from Gamma Command were security officers, they beamed down armed, and started firing on the staff. Some of our staff seemed to be on their side, saying something about Pitying treason? I don't know, I grabbed a phaser and then you called me in." the Commander replied.

There was a hissing noise, and the sound of a force field being activated. "What was that?" The Captain asked.

Channing picked up a tricorder from an equipment locker and began scanning. "Someone has activated a security protocol. Looks like it was triggered as soon as I entered the room. Our own people are doing this.

A comm channel opened in the room. "Adislo to Mavroidis. Report."

"Admiral, we need help, the transfers from Gamma Command beamed down heavily armed, they are working through the outer layers from the transporter room. I'm sealed in my office for now, with my XO, someone sealed the room from the outside." He replied.

"Are you armed Captain?"

"Yes, myself and Commander Channing are. Who are these people Vadosia?" The sound of worry evident in his voice.

"They were our friends and colleagues Captain. Trust no one. We will be there soon. Vadosia out."

Tarmin looked to Zach. "We need to try and figure out what's going on." He sat at his desk, his access code was still working. He tried using the internal sensors, to try and work out what exactly was going on. He pulled up security footage of the transporter room. 6 security officers from Gamma Command beamed down, phasers drawn. They fired on the transporter chief before he had a chance to call for help. They then beamed down more and more officers, and disabled the transporter. 24 officers were beamed down. Tarmin was beginning to think that there was no virus on the station. "We have no idea how many are on our side. With the security fields up, we may as well wait for the Admiral to arrive."

Zach picked up a PADD from the Captain’s desk. "We may as well try and figure out how why this is happening. Is there anything you aren't telling me Tarmin?"

"Nothing that I can recall. There was a captains briefing a few weeks back about an unknown group that was making its way back onto the scene, but thats only a few weeks back. There is no way this could have been planned in only a few weeks. Simultaneously cutting communications, isolating everyone around New Bajor, and launching a full scale assault? No way. Not to mention why they seem to be our own people firing at us."
"It doesn't seem like it could be them. But right now we can't rule anything out. We should try and monitor the security feeds, see if we can do anything to help the Admiral reach our location." The Commander replied in a surprisingly calm tone.

"Indeed, lets see if we can identify who is on our side, and who is on theirs. Hopefully the Admiral arrives before they…" he pointed to the enemy security officers on the screen. "Get here."
