Personality & Traits

General Overview Over the years, Willard has become a cynic; Between war, decades of service to Starfleet as a medical professional, and the death of his husband he has found himself a bit eccentric to cope with his aging years. Doctor Shultz is a brilliant physician with a lax, hit-or-miss bedside manner. Rank and protocol had never meant much to him; In his opinion, the pips on a collar don’t mean too much when your bleeding out on a biobed.

Personal History Willard spent most of his early career studying Medicine. Though he obtained his medical doctorate through Starfleet, he did not stop his education there. He continued to study at various institutions on Earth and Mars. He obtained his Medical Doctorate in Psychology at the Institution of Counseling and Internal Medicine in Tycos City, Earth’s Moon, Where he met his first Husband, Jerimiah who was an attending physician at Tycos City Hospital.
He thought it would be a good enough place to settle down and start his own practice and opened a Psychiatric Clinic. After being married for two years, Willard and Jerimiah grew distant with new opportunities presenting themselves; Affairs and lies broke up the couple. Willard Closed his practice and moved on. He signed up for a cultural exchange on Denobula, where he studied Neurology and Xenobiology. He made a lot of close friends which still to this day he keeps in contact with, Including his next husband. After about Three years of dating, they Married and moved back to Earth where Willard took a position at Starfleet Medical. Willard and Alexander grew fond of the idea of adoption. After about a year’s wait, process and application, they adopted a baby Andorian male, named Cody. He had no trouble growing up in the melting pot that Earth had become for diverse races. He had mostly human friends growing up, but in his teen years, convinced his Fathers to go to Andoria by himself. They reluctantly agreed, not wanting to inhibit the exploration of his race’s history, people, and culture. When he returned a few years later, he was ready to take his own steps in his career as a Starfleet Officer. Though his mentality was a bit too aggressive for life aboard a Starship and decided to join the Marine Corps.
Another opportunity presented itself to Willard to study on Vulcan at the Science Academy, where he studied Exobiology and volunteered at the local hospital. He only stayed for about a year before the call of duty dragged him back to Starfleet. With the Dominion War brutalizing the front lines, Dr. Shultz was assigned and transferred to various ships in the fleet. His expertise in Surgery and Psychology had been perfect for a time of war. He was able to care for the physically and mentally wounded. It even allowed him to study Cardassian physiology of wounded and KIA Prisoners of War.
Willards husband Alexander was on the wrong ship at the wrong time during the war. His life came to a tragic end. Both Willard and his son Cody took several months on Earth after his death to try and recover from their loss. Though they both still have a few mental wounds, they had to return to their duties to move on.
Willard was stationed at the biomedical facility at Starbase 24 for a majority of the time after the Dominion War before he was an offered a position to teach at Starfleet Academy.
