[Note added by Academy instructor Jin Xiao]

Maximillian is trouble. During his stay at the academy, incident rates have raised by 33%. And while he has only been found guilty on 12 counts of disturbance, there are another 123 cases in which he is suspected to have taken part in. It would be prudent to keep a close eye on Maximillian until he is better settled into his new duties and has gained a better measure of maturity in the field. But do not misunderstand, the academy certainly recognizes his exceptional academic achievements and he has received much acclaim on his work. His thesis was well received by many of the senior staff and prior to graduating he received several letters of offers from a variety of sources, including a full time research position within starfleet academy itself...

Maximillian is a brilliant scientist and will make for a valuable asset to any starship's crew in the Gamma Quadrant.

Strengths & Weaknesses Strengths: Highly intelligent and creative problem solving. Curiosity.

Weakness: Short attention span, easily distracted, lack of focus on things that he's not interested in, and sometimes comes across as arrogant and condescending. Curiosity.
Ambitions Ambitions: As is with most youth, Max wants to get out and see the world for himself. Based on his parents general demeanor, he views positions of power as stagnant, oppressive and overly serious and as such has no desire to strive for such a thing. For now he is happy to explore the horizon and visit the unknown.

Hobbies & Interests Education: Dual Specialization in Energy Diversification & Natural Genetic Biodiversity

Hobbies: Gardening, tennis, piano, holographic program design, portable and holographic gaming.

Personal History Home Planet: Acora IV - A heavy industrial starfleet colony planet specializing in the mass construction/production of starship components and other widely used machinery and technologies.

Born in Sector 3 of the industrial planet Acora IV as the only child of two of the sector's main administrators, Max was born into the well-to-do society of the planet's upper crust. And while being born priviledged does have its advantages, with both parents being work oriented and no siblings or close family friends to rely on, Max grew up fast in that urban jungle. At a young age, Max was left in the care of a modified holoprogram aimed aimed at baby sitting and educating young children while their parents were away at work [sometimes referred as "Holomoms"(derogatory term)]

With the constant exposure and his abundance of free time, Max took well to his technologically laden society like a fish to water. While he didn't get much of a chance to socialize at a young age, his mastery of the hologames and several of the popular holoprograms made him blend quickly into social circles a few years later upon entering middle school.

Being a fast learner, Max excelled at school, absorbing class material as a rapid rate and even allowing him to skip a few grades, making Max one of the younger Academy applicants to join at the age of 16.

However there was an unexpected event which took place one summer that would change him forever.

Due to the extreme environment of an industrial planet like Acora IV, offworld leave was almost mandatory. Those not native to the planet find its almost complete lack of nature, wildlife and vegetation too cold and "souless" to stay for an extended time. For Max and his parents who were both natives, it was their way of life. Any time they wanted some time away, they would visit their building's holodeck.

When Max decided to spend the summer with a school friend who had a residence offworld near a nature research and marine laboratory, Max got way more then he ever expected.

From his first experience going into space, to the time spent at his friends summer residence, his mind was repeatedly 'blown' by the bombardment of new experiences and places. The holodeck programs he was accustomed to did not come close to simulating the real thing. Coming back a changed boy, Max started to take great interest in the organic world. He began ordering a huge amount of specialized holodeck simulations and programs regarding everything from marine biology to planetary and artificial ecosystems. But no matter how much material he got, it was never enough to satiate his craving for knowledge. Knowing that an offworld educational system would be able to give him access to more resources, he applied to several offworld institutions, Starfleet academy inadvertently one of them.

Since he didn't really pay much attention to offworld affairs, he knew very little about the Federation and thought of them more as a large military organization then a real government. He never really thought of joining starfleet directly and even thought the idea was laughable when he received their tentative letter of acceptance. He wasn't anything like the big meat heads armed with their phaser rifles stomping off to save the galaxy. He just wanted to be left alone to do his own thing helping upgrade and keep the factories going and have the freedom to pursue his new pet hobby with nature. He began to reconsider that decision when he got a round of disbelieving looks from his classmates after he had mentioned in an off hand comment.

He started to hear more about what Starfleet was actually about and how it was usually a great honour to get accepted. When he heard that they regularly had access to some of the most advanced technologies and had some of the most extensive databases of knowledge he became very interested. When he eventually accepted their offer to join, he discovered that he had accidentally been enrolled into the scientific branch instead of operations & engineering due to how his initial application had been more geared towards getting information about his hobby of biology and natural environments. While he loved the topic and could study it unendidly, he never really considered it something that could be considered a career. Careers were things like Operations and Engineering, not poking around in a lab or going on field trips. That was something only old folks did when they couldn't keep up with the progression of society. Wanting to pursue Operations as his area of expertise as well as accomodate his desire to take several biology courses, due to the vaste difference in the two fields, the best the Academy could do was offer him a dual specialization. It was extra work, but it would give him the best of both divisions and he would be able to make a final choice of whether to apply for an Operations or Scientific position upon graduation.

In his final year at the academy, when his thesis on isolated self enclosed ecosystems made a big splash around the Academy, most people forgot about the Operations side of his education and always assumed he was going into the sciences. Little did he know that this misunderstanding would follow him when he applied for a post aboard the USS Unification.

Service Record None. Just freshly graduated out of the Academy at the rank of Ensign.
